Properties of kombucha – what it contains and what to expect

Many promises have grown up around kombucha. We have gathered what is really known about its properties – and what is not yet known.

What kombucha really contains

Kombucha is a drink with live cultures of bacteria and yeast, organic acids and natural polyphenols from tea. Tests of Nasza Kombucha confirmed, among other things, polyphenols (26–61 mg/100 ml depending on the variant) and active cultures. This is real, measurable composition – not marketing slogans.

Why people choose it

Most often for the taste and as a natural, lightly sparkling alternative to sugary sodas. Kombucha is less caloric than a typical cola or fizzy drink and contains no artificial colours or sweeteners.

What science has not yet confirmed

Many popular “health” promises about kombucha rest on lab or animal studies, while strong evidence from large human studies is still lacking. So it is worth treating kombucha as a tasty part of a varied diet, not a medicine or supplement.

Educational information. Kombucha is not a medicinal product and does not replace a varied diet or a doctor’s advice.
