Can children drink kombucha?

This is a common question from parents. Because of the nature of kombucha, it is worth approaching it with caution.

Trace alcohol and caffeine

As a fermented drink, kombucha contains trace amounts of alcohol (usually 0.2–1.2% in Nasza Kombucha) and caffeine from tea. That is exactly why caution is advised for children.

Many specialists advise against giving kombucha to young children. For older children and any small amounts, it is best to consult a paediatrician.

Safer alternatives

For children, drinks without alcohol and caffeine are a better choice – e.g. water or diluted juices.

Educational information, not medical advice. Consult a paediatrician about your child’s diet.
